The Kenya institute of mass communication was established mainly for the training of electronic engineers and technicians for the Kenya Broadcasting Service (KBS) as it was called then. It was originally called Voice of Kenya Training School from its inception in 1961. The Kenya Broadcasting Service (KBS) was later changed to Voice of Kenya (VOK) in 1964.

 

The institution offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The institution is well known to own a tradition of excellence in all that is related to the broadcasting field of study starting from the engineering, technical to the vocal aspect. The institution is open to both indigenous students as well as international students who wants to get the fair dealing of excellence.

 

The academic division of the institution is divided into five academic departments which are Information Training Department, TV/Radio Production Training Department, Engineering Training Department, Film/ video production training department and Postgraduate Training and Research department. These departments offer standard academic and practical professional training in broadcasting.

 

The institution normally begin to receive application in the month of June and it is usually advertised the national dailies. The shortlisting, selection and granting of admission often comes up in August and by September, the academic session often begins. Begin by knowing the courses to be registered. Get the information before proceeding  online to register the courses. For course registration, you may simply follow the steps below;

  1. Log on to the institution website, http://www.kimc.ac.ke
  2. Navigate and click on student portal
  3. Input your admission number and password to login into your portal.
  4. Navigate to the course registration tab
  5. Select the academic session and semester
  6. Register each of the courses one after the other.
  7. Confirm the course registration and submit.

 

How To Check Results Online

Checking results online to know your academic performance can be done via the students portal. Please follow the steps below;

  1. Log on to the institution website, http://www.kimc.ac.ke
  2. Navigate and click on student portal
  3. Input your admission number and password to login into your portal.
  4. Navigate to results tab
  5. Select the session and semester you wish to view its results.

Once you submit, the results will be displayed. You may then print it.
