N-Power: How To Apply For The Graduate Teaching Role And All The Available Programs

N-Power is a Skill And Knowledge based programs, as we are aware that Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development. Despite the current high level of unemployment, harnessing Nigeria’s youth demography through appropriate skill growth efforts provides an avenue to achieve inclusion and productivity within the country as a whole. A Large-scale skill development is the main policy thrust of the N-Power Programme.

 

N-Power is also linked to one of the Federal Government’s policies in the economic, employment and social growth arenas. This programme addresses the challenge of youth and Graduate Unemployment by providing a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development while linking its core and outcomes to fixing inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy. The modular programmes under N-Power program will ensure that each participating candidate will learn and practice most of what is necessary to find or create work by themselves.

 

The N-Power Teacher Corp involves a massive deployment of 500,000 graduates, after undergoing series of training in different areas of learning will assist to improve the inadequacies in our public services in education, health and civic education.  Some of these graduates will also help in actualizing Nigeria’s economic and strategic aspirations of achieving food security and self-sufficiency.

 

The N-Power Program will also be a platform for diversifying the economy. N-Power is preparing young Nigerians for a knowledge economy where, equipped with world-class skills and certification, they become innovators and movers in the domestic and global markets. Nigeria at the end of the program will have a pool of software developers, hardware service professionals, animators, graphic artists, building services professionals, artisans and others. N-Power also focuses on providing our non-graduates with relevant technical and business skills that improves their work outlook and livelihood.

According to the directives from federal Government, the program is supposed to last for 2 years. Report also has it that the 500,000 Teachers Will Earn A Monthly Allowance Of 27,000 Naira Monthly through the period of the program.

The N-Power Program is segmented as follows:

  • N-Power Teachers Corps- 500,000 graduates
  • N-Power Knowledge – 25,000 non-graduates
  • N-Power Build- 75,000 non-graduates

Requirement For Applying To The N-Power Program

N-Power program at this time, the initial modular programmes in N-Power are tailored for the Nigerian citizens between the ages of 18 and 35. You will need to meet the minimum requirements (if any) for your respective programme. Generally, selection is based on the following Criterias:

  • on your expression of a genuine interest in whichever area you decide;
  • passing the relevant tests;
  • your willingness to push yourself beyond your comfort zone; and
  • ability to show a flair to develop all the skills you need to be the best you can be.
  • minimum of a Higher National Diploma (HND) or a Bachelors Degree from a higher institution.(This applies only to the N-Power Graduate Program)

Available Programs Under The N-Power Scheme

N-Power Agro Program

One of the ways that the Federal Government plans to diversify Nigeria economy is attaining self-sufficiency in producing the food we consume internally. An effective and well-coordinated agriculture extension system is vital to the attainment of sustainable national food self-sufficiency. To establish this system, the Federal Government will engage qualified young Nigerians through the N Power Agro program.

After the first phase of training, N-Power Agro volunteers will start to function as intermediaries between research and farmers. They will operate as facilitators and communicators, helping farmers in their decision-making and ensuring that appropriate knowledge is implemented to obtain the best results on farms. N-Agro will also rely on the use of technology as the country aspires to identify soil types, farm sizes, irrigation data, and ensure that our farmers are operating optimally

N-Power Health Program

LookingThrough the N-Power Health programme, young graduates who form part of the 500,000 N-Power Corps members will be trained to work as public health assistants. They will be well equipped teach preventive health to community members including pregnant women, children, families and individuals. They will also be trained to provide basic diagnostic services to help enhance the health delivery in the country.

Participants of the Program would be trained to provide the following essential services:

  1. Monitor health status to identify and solve community health problems.
  2. Diagnose and investigate basic health problems and health hazards in individuals and the community.
  3. Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues.
  4. Mobilize community partnerships and action to identify and solve health problems.
  5. Develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts.
  6. Educate on laws, regulations and policies that protect health and ensure safety.
  7. Link people to needed personal health services.

N-Power Teach

The N-Power Teach empowerment programme will engage qualified graduates for the benefit of basic education delivery in Nigeria. They will be deployed as teaching assistants in primary and secondary schools across Nigeria.  They will not replace the current teachers, but will work as support teachers, assisting with teaching, school management and other functions within the schools. They will also assist in taking basic education to children in marginalised communities.

More Importantly, they will gain work experience, and acquire key competencies through academic and non-academic capacity building programmes, which will improve their competitiveness in the workplace. In addition, successful applicants will also benefit from a compulsory employability and entrepreneurship skills development programme.

N-Power Community Education

Some members of the N-Power Teacher Corps Scheme will be deployed nationally to instruct on:

  • Civic Education
  • Adult Education.

Civic Education is imperative for the development of an informed, effective, and responsible citizenry. Nigeria can only be truly sustained by citizens who have the requisite civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions. The programme will focus on the core values that are vital to nation building such as promoting patriotism, integrity, productivity, ethics, and efficiency. Civic education is essential to sustaining our objectives to build a strong and competitive nation.

 

The habits of the mind, as well as “habits of the heart,” the dispositions that inform the national ethos, are not inherited. Each new generation is a new people that must acquire the knowledge, learn the skills, and develop the dispositions or traits of private and public character that undergird a productive nation and a constitutional democracy.

Those dispositions must be fostered and nurtured by word and study and by the power of example. The values that build a nation must be consciously reproduced, one generation after another. This is what the programme intends to inspire in our nation through the N-Power Community Education instructors.

Adult Education will provide instruction that enables young as well as mature adults (above 18 years) to improve or supplement their knowledge and skills within general subjects. From literacy to numeracy, to other skills, this programme will also enhance adults’ ability to improve their future job and educational possibilities. The target group to benefit from the instruction are young as well as mature adults who have no formal education or have never completed junior secondary education or who have a need to improve or supplement their basic education

N-Power Creative

The N-Power Creative programme will train and develop 5,000 young creative talents. The strategy is to put our creative industry on the global radar as exporters of world-class services and content. Training will last 3 months, made up of 1-month in-class and a 2-month hands-on group project, across selected Nigerian cities. The participants will be trained and certified in one of the following courses:

·         Animation

·        Graphic Design

·         Post-production

·         Script Writing

 

N-Power Tech Hardware

The N-Power Tech. for device technicians program will train and facilitate tooling for at least 10,000 technicians to boost the device servicing and manufacturing industry. The output of this program will serve as a critical catalyst for the expansion of local capacity to service and produce mobile phones, tablets, computers and other relevant devices to serve the local and international market.

 

Participants will undergo a hands-on training experience wherein they will be exposed to practical processes and tools to assemble and repair devices of varying specifications. At the end often program, participants will be armed with the requisite technical skills to service devices in there local communities as well as work in a device assembly plant. The program will take 3 months of training and 1 month of assessment , graduation and setup. Participants will be advised on opportunities to acquire tools to practise.

N-Power Tech Software

The N-Power Tech for Developers program is to empower 10,000 Software Developers into the ICT Industry.
