In this review, we will be looking at Kenya’s National Social Security Fund which has the major objective of providing social security protection to workers in both formal and informal sectors of the economy. The cooperation offers social protection to all Kenyan workers across board. They register all members, receive their contributions as it comes, they manage all funds of the scheme, process and most importantly pay out benefits to eligible members or dependents as at when due.
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) was established in 1965 and was at that time operating as a department under the Ministry of Labour until 1987 when the NSSF Act was reviewed and later amended, which led to converting the Fund into a State Corporation under the Management and a supervision of a Board of Trustees.
How To Register On The Portal
The portal presently is not open to online registration. You can apply for benefits at the NSSF office closest to you. At present NSSF does not process benefit applications online. The form will be provided to you at the office and you will be advised accordingly on how to go about filling with all the benefits fully explained to you.
