How To Register And Seat For TOEFL Exams In Nigeria

TOEFL is a standardized English language test for a non native English language speakers. It is an assessment developed in 1964 and used to test the English language capability of non native speakers who may wish to study or work in English speaking countries.

 

TOEFL is a trademark of the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and it is also managed by them. It currently has over 4500 test centers scattered across over 165 countries in the world. The examination is adopted by well over 9000 universities across the globe.

 

The examination tests specific areas which include reading, listening, writing and speaking of English language. The test could either be paper based test (PBT) or internet based test (iBT). The PBT usually last for 2hrs 30mins while the iBT usually last for 4hrs. It has a 120 points score compiled from 30 points each of the four sections. TOEFL result can only be used for two years.

 

How To Register For TOEFL Test In Nigeria

TOEFL can be registered round the year online. Payment can be done online with credit or debit card. You can use your MasterCard, Visa card and even PayPal. To register, you may register via business centers scattered across the country or simply follow the steps below:

 

  1. Log on to https://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/register
  2. Navigate and click on “Register online”
  3. On the following web page, navigate and click on “sign up” to create a profile.
  4. While filling the form to create a profile, please fill your details as you have it on your formal documents. Ensure there is no discrepancies.
  5. After a successful profile completion, you can then register for the examination. Endeavour to check and select center close to you with your desired test date. Take note of the receiving institution. That is, where your result will be sent. Do not forget to enter appropriate address. It will cost you extra $20 to request the result to be sent again.

After taking your examination, you may check for your result after two weeks of the examination. Simply log into your profile online and check your result.

TOEFL Test Centers And Current Dates In Nigeria

TOEFL Test centers in Nigeria are available in Abuja FCT, Jos, Asaba, Enugu, Owerri, Lagos and Port Harcourt. At the moment, the exam is scheduled to hold on 26th August, 16th and 22nd September, 14th, 21st and 28th October, 3rd and 4th November and 16th December of this year. It is important to note that all applicants will be required to present their international passport before allowing them to enter the test hall. This is why it is important to register your name just as it appears on your international passport.
