BRIEF HISTORY

University of Kenyatta is a public research university which was established in 1985 in Kahawa Nairobi Kenya. It was the third university to be established in Kenya after the Moi University and University of Kenya. According to the history in 1965, it was when the British handed over Templar barrack to Kenyans. The barrack was later converted to a college, in the 70’s Kenyatta College became a constituent college and its name change to Kenyatta University College after the Act of parliament.

The university campus is on 1,000 acres of land, constructed to provide genuine and conducive learning environment for intellectual growth, the university also offer high quality programmes and studies that attract prospects from neighbouring countries who wish to be globally competitive, in attempt to achieve this, the university invested on modern gadget to increase learning.

The institution has an estimated number of 74,000 students spread throughout its various campus, it has over 1,700 academic staffs and 3,250 administrative staffs.
