Floyd Mayweather: Things You Don’t Know About The Undefeated Boxing Champion

Floyd Joy Mayweather, Jr. Nickname Money Mayweather, he was born Floyd Joy Sinclair on 24th of February, 1977. The American retired from professional boxer in 2015 after his Multi Million Dollars Match With Manny Pacquiao which was his major last fight. Though he had another fight with a fellow American Andre Berto on the 12th of September 2015 which was his actual last fight before calling it quit.

Widely considered as the greatest boxer of his era, undefeated as a professional, and a five-division world champion, Mayweather won twelve world titles and the lineal championship in four different weight classes (twice at welterweight); he is the only boxer to hold lineal titles simultaneous in two divisions, at welterweight and light middleweight which has never been equaled by any other boxer. He is a two-time winner of the Ring magazine, Fighter Of The Year award (1998 and 2007), a three time winner of the Boxing Writers Association Of America (BWAA) Fighter of the Year Award in (2007, 2013 and 2015) and a six-time winner of the Best Fighter ESPY Award (2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014). BoxRec currently rates Mayweather as the sixth best pound for pound fighter of all time, and the greatest pound for pound welterweight of all time. Additionally in 2016, ESPN also ranked Mayweather as the greatest pound for pound boxer of the last 25 years.

How Much Mayweather Made From The Manny Pacquiao’s Match

Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao

As widely regarded as the greatest fight of all time. Floyd won the WBO Welterweight title when he beat Manny Pacquiao on the historic May 2nd 2015 bout. The winner of the Match Floyd smiled to the bank with a whopping $220,000,000 Million in cash money for the big money fight. However, the WBO rules say that boxers cannot hold world titles in multiple weight classes at the same time, and Floyd had two junior middleweight champions when he won the welterweight title. Floyd had until 4:30 p.m. EST on July 3 2015 to vacate the two other belts and pay a $200,000 sanctioning fee (from the fight where Floyd was paid $220 million.) Floyd did not comply, and the WBO stripped him off the title on July 6, 2015.
