Aliko Dangote was born on 10th April, 1957 in the city of Kano, Kano State, Nigeria. He was born into the wealthy home of Mohammed Dangote and Hajia. Mariya Sanusi Dantata. Alhaji Aliko Dangote not most people know him as the great grand son of Alhaji Alhassan Dantata who as at the time he died was the richest African in the year 1955. The national award include being the first individual outside government to receive the nation’s second highest national honor in 2011, GCON award by the President, Goodluck Jonathan led administration in 2011. This is in recognition of his immense contributions to the economic development in Nigeria. Also, The Africa-America Institute (AAI) awarded Dangote as the 2016 African Business Leader Award. He also won global awards such as Clinton Global Citizen Award for leadership in private sector, Forbes Person of the Year 2014, Honorary Citizenship of Arkansas State in 2013 etc.
