Northwest University Kano was established in the year 2012. The university is the second state university in Kano City, it is the 37th state university and the 123rd university in the Nigeria University System.
The University was established to meet up with the deteriorating standard of education in the state and the increased demand for access to Tertiary education by secondary school leavers.
In the near future the University is hoping to run over 267 programmes in 12 faculties with 71 departments. It shall also include two schools which are the School of Postgraduate Studies and the School of General, Entrepreneurial Studies (CCE) to provide of the needs of postgraduate and general studies and also for general, entrepreneurial studies programmes.
