Tony Elumelu is one of the famous great Nigerians known for his wealth and entrepreneurial ability. His full name is Anthony Onyemaechi Elumelu  and he was born on 22nd March, 1963. He was born in Jos, Plateau State but of Delta State, Onicha-Ukwu in Aniocha North Local Government Area.

 

Tony Elumelu holds a degree in Economics from Ambrose Alli University and masters degree from University of Lagos. He also added to his knowledge at the Harvard Business School. With these, he got himself prepared for the life challenges. This  undoubtedly paid off as we can see today.

Tony became Member of the order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR) in 2003. In 2009, he was a presidential candidate for Global Financial Crisis committee, he was listed in 100 most influential Africans and he bagged the honour as commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2013.

The foundation was founded in 2010 and has a vision to empower entrepreneurs. The foundation focuses to enhance the entrepreneurial spirit among the youths and to further step up African financial growth and development. To this end, the foundation has several programmes.

 

The foundation has implemented several programmes and gave lots of grants to deserving people to drive entrepreneurship. These programmes include Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP), Blair-Elumelu Fellows Programme, The Tony and Awele Elumelu Prize (TAEP) etc. These programmes also show collaboration with similar organization across the globe.
