Situated along the Ikpa road axis of Uyo metropolis is the University of Uyo. Formerly called the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) which was setup in 1983, the institute of higher learning was commissioned on 1st October, 1991 by the National Universities Commission to operate as a federal university thereby was its name changed to University of Uyo.

Tuition fee in the university of Uyo is free but students pay other smaller levies and fees that add up to about a paltry N70,000 for new students into the institution and N60,000 for existing students of the higher institution.
Admission Requirements
Admission into the University of Uyo requires the following minimum entry requirements: Credit pass in 5 subjects including Mathematics and English Languages at not more than two sittings in either SSCE/NABTEB/NECO/GCE-O/L. Direct entry candidates into the University of Uyo must be qualified with either a Professional qualification, NCE, OND, HND, University Diploma, IJMB, GCE A Level etc., candidates with these qualification on admission will continue directly from 200 level. Prospective candidates who are awaiting result can apply as long as evidence of their results will be made available before classes resume in full.
How To Register Courses
Registering for courses in UNIUYO is not stressful as it is done solely via the school’s website http://uniuyo.edu.ng/, after choosing and registering for course payments are carried out also via the website.
Procedure For Registering Courses
There are two main procedures in registering for courses on the UNIUYO website:
i. Via the Login page on the website’s homepage
- Choose the Faculty where the course is taught.
- Choose the Department that teaches the course.
- Choose the level that the course belongs.
- Choose the course from an outlined list of courses created specifically for the selections in 1,2 and 3 above.
- Choose the course category. Click to choose whether the course is Required, Compulsory or Elective.
- Click on the Add Course button to promptly include chosen courses to list of registered courses.
- Repeat the methods stated in 1 through 6 to add more courses.
ii. Via the e-portal page on the school’s website http://uniuyo.edu.ng/eportals/
- click under the Student’s Menu
- Click the Application Form tab
- Fill in:

Department
Choose Program Type
Choose Faculty
Choose Courses of Study
Choose Year of Study
Choose current CGPA
Click submit form:

UNIUYO E-Payment Solutions
The University of Uyo website boasts of being one of the best convenient online student portals in the country. The school’s e-portal which has a cross-section of payment options for students to choose from when making their payments. All payments are carried out via http://uniuyo.edu.ng/eportals/ and for full access to each of the various payment solutions on the school’s e-portal a student’s registration number is required along with an access code to gain full entry.
