Wapic Insurance Plc was Established in 1958 as a subsidiary of Provincial Insurance Company, in United Kingdom; the Company was incorporated with the name, West African Provincial Insurance Company (Wapic). The first alphabets in each of these words later to became the acronym from which the Company’s name was formed

 

In the year 2008 Wapic expanded it presence to Ghana by establishing Wapic Insurance (Ghana) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary with general insurance license operating in Ghana.

 

Wapic Insurance Plc, In 2011 became a subsidiary of Access Bank Plc. This takeover happened following the acquisition of its former parent company by the Bank. Later in 2013 they (Wapic Insurance Plc) divests from Access Bank Plc and in the same year of breakaway, the company recorded a shareholder growth of about 850,000.
