Igbinedion University, Okada is the realization of Chief (Sir) Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom to improve on the standards of education in the country, creating University which offer education of international standards.

The University began its academic programmes in the 1999/2000 session in five colleges namely; Business and Management Studies, Arts and Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Law and Natural and Applied Sciences. The College of Engineering commenced it’s academic programme at a latter time in the 2002/2003 session.

Presently the University has 7 colleges namely: College of Arts and Social Sciences, College of Business and Management Studies, C0llege of Pharmacy, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, College of Law, College of Health Sciences, College of Engineering.
