The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board is the body responsible for the conducting of examination and offering of admission into tertiary institutions to deserving students in Nigeria. It is fondly called JAMB which is used to refer to its prerequisite examination for admission into institution of higher learning.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Direct Entry commonly known as JAMB DE is an admission processing channel for people who wants to possess a degree after possessing a national diploma, national certificate in education (NCE) and national innovation diploma (NID). So, with the JAMB DE, such candidate can now process admission to further their studies in their respective fields at Bachelor’s degree level in a university.
Requirements For JAMB Direct Entry
Before you obtain the JAMB Direct Entry form, there are some requirements you ought to have if the process will ever be a success for you. Here are the requirements;
- You must have completed a course at a national diploma or national innovation diploma level with a minimum grade of lower credit.
- You must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in your O level result at no more than two sittings.
- Two (2) passes (in prescribed subjects for each discipline) at the Advanced-Level Examination of IJMB, Cambridge, JUPEB or Institute of Baccalaureate with SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalents in three (3) other subjects
- Passes in two (2) major subjects in the NCE with S.C.E., NTC/NBC credits or equivalents in three (3) other subjects (mainly for Education Courses) and ND. For Educational courses, Education may be accepted as a third A’ Level subject

JAMB Direct Entry Application Procedure
The JAMB Direct Entry application begins with the purchase of the form which is e-registration PIN and a CD on which you can view the syllabus, brochure and other information. This is obtainable at JAMB offices nationwide and some designated points.
To get started, you need a mobile number preferably your mobile number because your application and further details regarding your application will be sent to the mobile number. On your mobile device via your number send an SMS containing your surname, first name and middle name (if any). This should not be more than 40 characters including the two spaces after each name before the third. It should be forwarded to 55019 and you will get your ten (10) characters profile code.
Next is to present your profile and make payment to get your ePIN for registration. This can be done at the ATM machine, JAMB offices, participating banks (ACCESS, ECOBANK, FCMB, FIRSTBANK, UNION, JAIZ, STERLING, UNITY, SKYE, FIDELITY and ZENITH), two participating Microfinance Banks ( FUD MFB (Dutse) and Regent MFB (Abuja)), through the USSD code, *565*6*55019# and via JAMB website www.jamb.org
Next is to visit a JAMB accredited CBT center after obtaining you ePIN to complete your registration. Please note that you will be required to pay N700 registration fee at the CBT center. At the CBT center, provide all required information, picture capture and obtain your e-slip as registration evidence. Once you complete your registration you may go and prepare yourself for the screening exercise.
