Kings College Lagos: Admission Requirements, Online Registration And All You Must Know

King’s College, Lagos is a prestigious secondary school in located in Lagos State, Nigeria. Established on 20 September 1909 as King’s School, the institution began with 10 students on its original site at Lagos Island, adjacent to Tafawa Balewa Square. Only male students are admitted although historically some female HSC (A-Level equivalent) students were admitted before its sister school  Queen’s College Lagos, was established. King’s College conducts examinations for the National Examinations Council and the West African School-Leaving Certificate.

King’s College remains a national institution, and the country’s numero uno in secondary education. Today, the College, remains the best in terms of prestige, discipline, character formation, and academic excellence. Its rivals in West Africa are Achimota College, Ghana and Fourabay College, Sierra Leone. In England, Kings College compares favourably with Eaton College, Harrow, amongst others.

 

 

Uniform

The school uniform comprises of a white shirt (long-sleeved for senior school students and short-sleeved for  junior school students), a school tie and/or a school badge, white trousers with a black belt, socks, black laced shoes and a blue blazer. The blazer was made compulsory and this made the school look more inviting to the general public.

Newly admitted students, that is, JSS 1,  would be required to pay additional fees for the following underlined items:

  1. A) Blazzers
  2. B) Club and Societies fee
  3. C) Exercise books
  4. D) Stationery
  5. E) Uniforms
  6. F) Text book deposits and other items as seen in the table below.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

  1. A) Candidates must be between the ages of 11 and 17 years to be eligible for admission into King’s College.
  2. B) Candidates must be successful in the common entrance examination
  3. C) Candidates would be required to write an Essay on why he decided to apply for admission into King’s College Lagos (KC).
  4. D) Successful candidates will be shortlisted by merit into the school by the Federal ministry of Education.
