The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria is one of regulatory body for Accountants in Nigeria. It is fondly called ICAN. The body was formed in September, 1965 with the aim of encouraging professionalism in accountancy in the country. Today, ICAN is the most pronounced accountancy regulatory body.

To become a member of this professional body, you must have passed through at least one of the stages. There are three (3) stages which include foundation level, skills level and professional level. Each of these levels has sub levels and you are required to write and pass examination as you glide from one sub level to another.

For ICAN membership, there are two main types of membership. We have the chartered member and registered members. ATSWA Requirements

Before you begin the online ATSWA registration, there are requirements you need to possess. These requirements include five credit passes in O level results in not more than two sittings, Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from any polytechnic recognised by ICAN, National Certificate of Education (NCE) from any ICAN recognized College of Education and any other relevant qualification as approved by ICAN.

Online ATSWA Registration

To take part in the ATSWA examination, below are the steps to follow;

Visit any commercial bank to make payment of six thousand naira (N6000) via pay direct platform
Then log on to www.icanonline-ngr.com/paydirect
Input Deposit Slip Number and Receipt Number/PIN
Fill the application form and verify that the details are correct
Upload coloured passport photograph
Print the application form and append your signature at appropriate place
Give it to your referee to sign as well.
You are required to submit the form along with other documents such as
The original PIN voucher
One passport photograph

III. The original bank teller.

One self addressed envelope with postage stamp affixed on it.
Birth Certificate or sworn affidavit
Copies of Academic certificate

VII. Statement of results or WAEC/NECO certificate

VIII. For married woman, Marriage certificate and newspaper advert for change of name.
