Sometimes earaches can be debilitating, but they don’t always warrant an antibiotics. Recently, prescriptions for ear infections have changed in the last five years. You might not even be prescribed for an antibiotics.
Note that not all ear infections are bacterial or need medical prescription. Most times, you could find all the remedies you need in your home.
HOME MADE REMEDIES FOR EAR PAIN
Below are natural and nonprescription (not antibiotic) remedies for ear pains:

- Using pain relievers, an example is acetaminophen (Tylenol and others) and ibuprofen (Advil). And for those that are over 18 years of age can also consider aspirin for pain. - Although an anecdotal testimonies exist praising the use of garlic oil poured into the ear canal as an effective home therapy for outer and middle ear infections.
- Be aware that parents of young children with middle ear infections (otitis media) have long since noted the reluctance to put pressure on the side of the infected ear. So sleeping with the painful side up might be of help in the management of ear pain.
- Before the use of antibiotics, a common natural technique to treat middle ear infections was for the doctor to make a small incision in the eardrum known as Myringotomy to release pressure and allow pus to drain from the ear.
- Although Myringotomy is still considered when treating unusual bacterial ear infections in newborns, infants, and those with a compromised immune system and that might require an antibiotics not commonly used to treat ear infections.
